Harness Training
Overview
This course will teach people wearing harnesses how to make the right decisions and covers the best practice guidelines for working at heights.
A safety harness is a form of protective equipment designed to protect a person from injury. The harness is an attachment between a stationary and non-stationary object and is usually fabricated from rope, cable or webbing and locking hardware.
It is imperative that anyone working at heights has through understanding of safety harnesses as selecting the wrong type of harness or lanyard system could be putting you in more harm than not wearing one.
Objectives
- Knowledge of the hazards associated with wearing a safety harness and associated equipment.
- Knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems and equipment.
- Fall restraint, fall arrest, free fall, suspension trauma, working at height, unprotected edge.
- Potential faults and non-compliances in personal equipment.
- Check and fit a safety harness.
- Rescue planning in the event of a fall.
